Tancin, in collaboration with her colleagues, organized the exhibition Order from Chaos: Linnaeus Disposes (2002), featuring pre-Linnaean botany, and Linnaeus' contribution to, and impact on, the natural sciences. More recently (2011), she has developed the exhibition Botany and History Entwined: Rachel Hunt's Legacy, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hunt Institute. She is a longtime member of the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries, and in 2008 received the Council’s Charles Robert Long Award of Extraordinary Merit. She is a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London, represents Hunt Institute in the Linnaeus Link project (an international, collaborative project designed to make Linnaean collections and information more accessible), and is a member of the Society for the History of Natural History.
