Inspiring innovation from tradition

Alain Touwaide will deliver a public lecture entitled Using remedies from Antiquity for renewed applications in medicine, at George Washington University's Medical School, Ross Hall 201, on Tuesday, March 6th, 2012, at 1:00pm.

Touwaide is a leading pioneer in the discovery and digitization of works on the topic of ancient medicines as potential sources for new modern medicines. His work includes using DNA analysis to reveal what plants were used in some of the earliest medicines in pill form from an Italian shipwreck dating back to 120 BC. This lecture and discussion will delve into the use of ancient medical traditions as offering inspiration for novel medical therapies.
